Pedagogy - School Management System
About This Project
I worked as a UI/UX Designer at Pedagogy, where we developed an all-in-one school management platform.
My focus was on designing the admin and student web applications, as well as the student mobile application targeting middle and pre-schools in India.
I also contributed to creating the landing website for Pedagogy, collaborating closely with other designer on the team.

Problem Statement & Goals
Team Collobration
I worked in a team of over 15 members, including 1 designer, 5 developers, and other stakeholders. I reported daily to the product manager, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration throughout the project.
Problem 🤔
During the COVID-19 pandemic, students were unable to attend school in person, leading to a shift towards online learning.
The main challenge was that schools had to rely on multiple platforms for different tasks—students used one platform to submit assignments, another to view assignments, and separate systems for storing student information, announcements, teaching, learning, and communication between students, parents, and teachers.
⚡️ The Challenge : Designing a large, complex SMS from scratch while ensuring consistency across users and platforms.
Solution ✨
The solution is to develop an all-in-one platform that consolidates various tasks into a single system. It will feature distinct user roles for teachers, students, and parents. A web application will be provided for administrators and teachers, while a mobile application will be available for teachers and students for quick access.
The system will allow the creation of classes, subjects, and courses, which can be assigned to students. Virtual classrooms can be created for live streaming and communication with students. Additional features include a chat box for direct communication and a 'school wall' for general announcements
Challenges
The SMS is a large, complex system, and I started from scratch. Designing for multiple users (admin, teachers, students) across web and mobile apps while maintaining consistency was challenging. Balancing user experience with technical constraints and business requirements required careful planning. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate features and meet both user and business needs added complexity.
Designing
Process

Onboarding Prototype
The first feature I worked on was the onboarding process to get users started. Before diving into the system, I focused on creating the course, subjects, and sections as the three main stages.
Getting Started
The onboarding steps included setting up a password, entering school details, creating courses, creating subjects, adding teachers, adding students, and inviting them.
Onboarding Process
The onboarding process featured a single page listing all necessary steps with a progress tracker to show completion. Tooltips were included to guide users through each step seamlessly.
Creating Courses, Sections, and Subjects
The process involved designing intuitive workflows for creating courses, sections, and subjects. Each feature was developed step by step, ensuring simplicity and alignment with user needs.
High-Fidelity Design
Final Design
The final design focused on clarity and ease of use. Features like onboarding, courses, and subjects were developed step by step with daily and weekly feedback. The responsive design was optimized for all devices and handed to developers with detailed specs.
